It's not about the looks, maybe it is confusing at the start, but that's only because you are not used to it. When it comes to quality Mumble beats TS, and it is easier to set up, maintain and configure your server on Mumble. This is coming from someone who used to prefer TS over Mumble just because I have not experienced Mumble, after using it for just a week I never went back to TS.

Well i dont know how to set up mumble, but setting up teamspeak is very easy. What do you mean by the maintain? Where do you need to maintain a Teamspeak or Mumble server?
Well for me, the look is very important. For me, its not important how easy it is to "set it up" etc. The most important is, how it is for the users. And Teamspeak is much more User Friendly. And thats the most important thing. Do it as easy as possible for the users. Not for the one who sets it up...

We are using Mumble and won't switch to any other voice over IP client. We had this discussions many times already and the answer is no.

Mumble is the voice over IP client Neon chose over any other and if we should change is up to the Regulars, who are actually there all the time and in the end more over it's up to the admins.

This is the Neon point of view to this topic.

      My point of view:
TS sucks. The quality is even worse than Skype (at least for me) and the design is ugly as fuck. Mumble offers the best sound quality plus it's plain and simple, if you aren't some lazy ass.

And why the fuck is this in the Neon United suggestion thread? It doesn't fit in this topic, so I want to please you to stop with this topic or go on with it in an own thread, but as I wrote before, Neon uses Mumble.

      Over and out.

Passwords are like toilet paper. Don't reuse, don't share ones you've used, and no one should be asking to see what you've used. - Unknown
      To be honest.
I have now used both Voice-IP-Servers and didn't really notice a better quality (if the channel was edited to be the best sound-quality which is possible in every channel).
TeamSpeak is much more user-friendly (at least from my side) and at the time we had the discussion, a bit more people (mostly users) voted for a teamspeak server.
I've always had the idea to make both, a TeamSpeak and a Mumble Voice-Client where member and user can decide which client they are using.
But I don't really care about this anymore.

I totally agree with ShoX. Cant anybody make a poll just to check what users think, because isnt the most important thing, that users feel well??? :wat:

Such a poll has no decision-rights.
This has to be done by the regulars (as far as I know as I am none of them)
But as the current regulars (most of them at least) are using mumble this vote has no chance.
This was discussed a lot of times with no effect.

Actually it is for me but there are people who think different. And btw. this discussion brought many people to leave.. ( )
You can see the thread here (by clicking on the word) how users/members voted for a Voice-IP-Client.
I am still for both. :foreveralone:

I used to talk in Mumble several times and am still staying to Ts3, where I don't hear (like I said above) any worse quality if the channel are edited right. Maybe it was in TeamSpeak 2 which the regulards(Admins) have used back then but I guess it is good enough now.
But who cares about my opinion. :bitchplease:

What's your opinion concerning the Neon VoIP communication? 21
      1.
        I do/will/would mostly/only use the Neon Mumble server (6) 29%
      2.
        I would mostly/only use a Neon Teamspeak 3 server (10) 48%
      3.
        I don't care or I would mostly/only use another VoIP software (5) 24%
I took the liberty of making a new thread out of this discussion so we can continue it here without further polluting the United Suggestions Collection thread.

Of course there's the possibility to host both a Mumble and a Teamspeak server, but I question the reasonability of that. Like Bass wrote, we've already had a discussion about choosing between Teamspeak and Mumble long time ago at a point where we had been using Teamspeak 2 for a few years. Compared to Teamspeak 2, Mumble is way better in terms of channel and user rights configuration and, most importantly, audio quality and latency.
Because of that we switched to Mumble back then.

As Mumble has been serving all our needs up to today we had no reason yet to switch to the newest version of Teamspeak, neither have we (together) spent much time in testing or using it. We refers to the regular Neon VoIP server users, i.e. mostly the Regulars. I personally don't know much about Teamspeak 3 and thus can't factually compare it to Mumble. However, the few times I've been using Teamspeak 3 I had the impression that the Teamspeak 3 sound quality and the audio latency are still not as good and enjoyable as Mumble's. Some people already told me that this probably would've been a matter of server settings, but, as I said, I can't rate that and only base on my personal subjective experiences.

Mumble is fairly simple to install and configure. It runs on all common platforms and doesn't consume much space or performance. Thus I think it's not a big deal for anyone interested in conversation on a VoIP server to install Mumble and join our server (one just needs to enter neon-gaming.de as host and leave the default port). If you want to talk to each other, send quick messages, talk privately or in separate channels, Mumble is perfect for you.

Neon is a democratic clan (or has at least been founded as one back then) so if there are no technical reasons to not run two different VoIP server softwares and there's a majority of members that wants to use Teamspeak 3, but not Mumble, we should make a Teamspeak 3 server as well, but previously I want the ones interested in VoIP communication to seriously try Mumble out.

No matter what's going to happen, I'll make a poll here. Please participate.

Well.. your arguments are clear but all I can say that TeamSpeak has all those things as well.
      * It's easy to install and configure (I've done this many times so I know how to do things there)
      * It runs on all platforms as well (as far as I know)
      * It does not consume much space or performance
      * In Teamspeak you just have to enter an IP or the adress, nothing more
      * In case people want to talk to each other, they could receive the rights to create a temporary channel which gets deleted if both are leaving, and poking and texting is also possible
      * You have in TeamSpeak the same choices like in Mumble and the sound quality is - depending from the channel-settings - quite good
      * It's easy to set things up and if you want I can give you a TeamSpeak-Server for free for testing

Like I said, I do not really care about this anymore and won't start a fight nor a discussion about this anymore.

I think you misunderstood me. I didn't bring these arguments to point out things that make Mumble better than Teamspeak, but to make clear that, in the first place, there are no disadvantages in giving Mumble a try at least. I mean, if one needed a Bachelor to set it up or a 4 GHz quad core to run it I'd totally understand if people didn't want to try it out.
Its not the problem in mumble being bad. The problem is that it is not used by as many people. Many players often ask me on the server "Does neon have a ts server?" and I can only reply that we dont, but we have mumble. Not many people have the motivation to install mumble besides ts (which is used by nearly all big clans), so they simply say "ah k". :okay:
We might have more english-speaking people on ts, than we would have on mumble.
But then again, the regulars would probably be the most common sighting on it :okay:

Well the vote has ended and the public has spoken :megusta: I think the outcome is rather obvious and I think it's time to discuss if a neon TS should be something concidered next to Mumble.. :pondering: The last thing hasn't been said about this that's clear as day at least :bean:

Not sure about other people but I can speak for myself:
I tried it.. and I don't really like it so a TS3 would suit me better... hence the reason I am usually on Skype and not Mumble :foreveralone:
However Mumble should be fine too.. as I don't use TS3 now either... just using shit Skype :pfftch:

I tried it once to check if the quality is better than on TS3. But i dont think so.
And i looked at the... well lets call it design... k mumble doesnt rly have a design...
